Driftmix
It’s Friday night. I’m at a remote campus, surrounded by little more than fields and empty factories for miles and miles. I’m in a scarcely-used building during a quiet weekend, alone except for the fellow watching the desolate computer lab down the hall. It’s dark, cold, and windy outside, with the snow alternating between an elegant declension and a violent downpour.
This is how we begin SPRING BREAK! (kind of a misnomer, isn’t it?) here at Owens Community College in sunny Northwood, Ohio!
Due to some awkward scheduling decisions by the goblins in the President’s Office, I won’t be seeing my students for about three weeks. Weekend classes have their advantages, I suppose (for students and teachers).
What are YOU doing with your Friday night?
I ordered some Sori Sushi from down the road, and I’m listening to This American Life while playing Star Control II.
Sounds like the American Dream.
It must be nice being right in the middle of a bunch of nice restaurants…Jet’s Pizza, Nori Japan, Sakura Steakhouse…I’m envious. All Point Place really has is a Marco’s pizza and generic Chinese shop that is just okay.
Was watching clips of Celebrity Apprentice.
I worked until 8PM (I normally get off at Four, but was covering someone.) and then went home to hang out with the only tolerable 15-year-old person I know, who was staying with us for the weekend. We watched Mythbusters. It was not particularly thrilling!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who had an okay-but-not-thrilling Friday. :)
